IBPS AFO Interview Prep | Self Introduction

 

The first question asked during an interview is often, “Introduce yourself” or “Tell us something about yourself.” Both questions require you to talk about yourself in a structured and meaningful way. This question sets the tone for the entire interview, making it one of the most crucial aspects of your performance.

The panel evaluates your communication skills, confidence, and relevance based on your response. A strong start can leave a positive impression and set the stage for a successful interview session. Therefore, your answer should be well-prepared, precise, and delivered confidently.

In your IBPS-AFO interview, the chance of being asked for a self-introduction is very low, as they often ask questions directly from your application form. Prepare yourself for questions and answers based on the application you submitted. Your self-introduction should last at least 2 minutes.

1. Name

  • Start by stating your full name clearly and simply. Avoid adding unnecessary details.
  • Example: "My name is Rahul Sharma."
  • Follow-up Question: What is the meaning of your name?

2. Place

  • Mention your hometown or where you currently live.
  • Example: "I’m from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and currently living in Delhi to prepare for exams."
  • Follow-up Questions: Questions about your district, such as famous places, activities, festivals, recent news, crops, etc.

3. Educational Background

  • Share your highest qualification and the university or college you attended.
  • Example: "I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from XYZ University in 2020."
  • Follow-up Questions: About your courses, place of education, and questions about postgraduate studies.

4. Work Experience (if applicable)

  • Briefly mention any relevant work experience.
  • Example: "I have two years of experience as a customer relationship manager at ABC Bank, where I improved my skills in customer service and problem-solving."
  • Follow-up Questions: About your job profile and why you left the job.

5. Family

  • Talk briefly about your family background.
  • Example: "My father is a teacher, my mother is a homemaker, and I have two sisters."
  • Follow-up Questions: Questions related to farming or agriculture-related jobs within your family.

6. Hobbies

  • Mention hobbies that show positive or useful traits.
  • Example: "I enjoy reading books about finance and playing chess, which improves my focus and strategy."
  • Follow-up Questions: About your hobbies.

7. Strengths and Weaknesses

Do not include this part in your self-introduction unless the panel asks.

  • Strengths: Highlight qualities that are useful for the role.
    • Example: "I’m good at solving problems and staying calm under pressure."
  • Weaknesses: Be honest and explain how you’re improving. Do not mention weaknesses that could negatively impact your job profile.
    • Example: "I tend to overthink things, but I’m working on prioritizing tasks to overcome this."

Conclusion 

Prepare your self-introduction thoughtfully, covering all essential points. Speak confidently, maintain a positive tone, and be ready for follow-up questions based on your introduction and application form.
